The Houses of Parliament are famous for sharp political manoeuvring, but it was leading events specialist Mobile Promotions impressing people with their skills when they manoeuvred their own events industry first.
Extensive site discussions and research took place prior to Mobile Promotions being given permission by Black Rod’s Usher at the House of Commons to be the first logistics company to bring a mobile event trailer in to Black Rod’s Garden for this year’s Kids Taskforce Champions Awards reception.
Mobile Promotions drew on their unrivalled events expertise to locate their R8 event unit in the courtyard within metres of the hallowed Victoria Tower and Houses of Parliament. The operation began at 5am when the Mobile Promotions team crossed Westminster Bridge flanked by the London Eye and Big Ben as it was lit by the first rays of morning sun. London’s Metropolitan Police then held back the early morning traffic as an intricate reversing manoeuvre was performed through the historic gates, followed by rigorous security checks.
The event began at 11.30am, hosted by the charity founder Sharon Doughty and her team. Patron Bobby Davro welcomed leading politicians, footballers, TV stars, police and fire service chiefs, teachers and pupils from several schools involved in the project. The R8 trailer housed plasma screens for showing video presentations.
The successful day finished considerably later for the logistics team when they drove the R8 trailer away from Westminster at midnight, observing the no-noise curfew, and waiting for the right honourable members to finish their debating.
